Get updates on our website and what's new in the world of 4/3rds sensor and other mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (MILC).


 


Status update.


43groups is still laying the foundation for its news, resources, deals and social network website.


So far, syndicated content has been graciously re-posted with full attributes to the original content creators and all of their affiliated link tracking in-tact.  That will remain unchanged, but new, original 43groups content will begin to trickle in as the rest of the website "cools" down and less back-end work is needed for development.


What's on the horizon?


Social Networking Groups: New groups will be slowly created to accommodate major topics in (m)4/3rds camera and accessories.   I don't want to flood the network with too many options just yet, but if traffic actually picks up (depending on how this first experiment goes!), I will be open to suggestions.  Group creation is moderated this time and limited to admins.


Catalog:  After the nuts and bolts are in place, the catalog will be fleshed-out with a product map, newest first, of (m)4/3rds products and accessories, including general description, links to reviews and possible visitor-generated ratings.


Resources:  Additional information will available beneath the "Resources" link to assist new-comers as well as seasoned-veterans in finding curated information on all things (m)4/3rds.


What's the ultimate goal?

I have been carefully monitoring the general photography "web-sphere" along with the (m)4/3rds niche blogs and review websites in an attempt to gauge what would be the optimum scope of this website.  I would not undertake such a venture if I did not think I could offer a new and unique perspective in this market.  I also have personal stake in this, being a (m)4/3rds camera owner, so it is in my best interest to promote the use and growth of this "ecosystem".

I believe that there is a uniquely photographer-oriented advantage in this system, sometimes to it's own commercial detriment, that places it far ahead of any other mirrorless interchangeable lens camera systems (MILC, as the acronym of choice).  The small, but not "too small" sensor and reasonably short lens to sensor distance allows for compact camera design with a balanced trade-off between size and image quality.  In addition to size, the development of high quality, larger aperture pancake lenses is expedite by the physics of such a sensor/mount/flange-focal-distance combination.  Ad to that the dedication by Panasonic and Olympus to release a plethora of camera bodies along with wide 3rd party lens support and (m)4/3rds  looks attractive to anyone seeking a well-supported, highly-configurable camera system.

Expect to see improvements over the next few months, with the first round of development complete in time for the (probably last minute!) Christmas shopping season.
